The story of the little link

The life of a file.

When it was young, the file was full of energy. It was curious, motivated, and wanted to be part of everything. And it was.

The file showed up at every party.
Every presentation.
Every newsletter.
Every website.

It traveled a lot.
Sometimes in an email.
Sometimes on a USB stick.
Sometimes on a file server.
Sometimes on someone’s laptop.

Everywhere people called:
“Can you send me the file?”

And the file always thought:
“Sure. I’m on my way!”

The wild years

The file was proud because everyone needed it.

In the webshop.
In marketing.
In presentations.
In campaigns.

The many copies.

Sometimes the file was invited to four places at the same time.
Then something strange happened.

Others appeared. They looked exactly like the file.
Again. And again. And again.

“Oh,” thought the file. “There are so many copies of me.”

But when it looked more closely, they weren’t really identical.
One was smaller.
One had a new logo.
One had different text.
Another had different colors.

And suddenly nobody knew anymore: Which one is the original?

The years went by. The parties became more frequent. The journeys became longer.
And one day the file realized it was exhausted.
Versions of it were scattered everywhere.

The file sat down and quietly thought:
“Maybe I just need one place where I can stay.”

A new home.

So the file moved.
Into a DAM.

Life was different there.
Fewer parties. Less chaos. Far fewer copies.

But there was something much better.
Good company.
Lots of other files lived there.
Images.
Videos.
Documents.

Most of them had stories just like its own. They, too, had spent years traveling from place to place.

A new friend.

One day, inside the DAM, the file met someone.
He was small. Friendly. Fast. Always on the move.
His name was Link.

Link listened to the file’s story and said:
“You don’t have to travel anymore.”

The file looked surprised.
“But everyone needs me.”

Link smiled.
“They do. But I’ll go for you.”

A peaceful life.

From that day on, the file simply stayed in the DAM.
Whenever someone needed it, Link set off.

To the website.
To the webshop.
To the presentation.
To the newsletter.

And everywhere he said:
“Come with me. I’ll show you where it lives.”

And if it hasn’t been archived…
…the file is probably still living happily in the DAM today.

No longer out of breath.
No longer copied a thousand times.
Simply where it belongs.

And Link continues to travel the world for it. 🌍
