Migration of the DAM system at the Schulthess Klinik: From Cumulus to fylr
The Schulthess Clinic is one of Europe’s leading orthopaedic clinics. It was ranked fourth best worldwide and second best in Europe by Statista. The Swiss also set standards in technological and digital progress: the clinic is one of the best ‘smart hospitals’. Accordingly, the clinic’s management also attaches great importance to its digital offering.
To ensure excellence in visual appearance and digital asset management, the DAM experts at DAM United were commissioned to set up a new multimedia solution. The Canto Cumulus DAM system used to this point was to be replaced.
Switch to fylr – semi-automated migration with a proven solution
After a thorough analysis of the existing system environment and requirements, the DAM consultants recommended switching to fylr (formerly easydb) from Programmfabrik. fylr is considered a modern, efficient and cost-effective DAM solution and has established itself as a reliable DAM in numerous projects. The system offers excellent value for money, including unlimited users. It also provides the security required for personal data/images and can run in your own IT environment (on-premises).
In the first step, metadata, folder structures, user groups and access rights were analysed, optimised and adapted to the extended functions of fylr in joint workshops. After all, around 150,000 assets were managed in 25 Cumulus catalogues, which were to be transferred to a consolidated, future-proof structure. In addition, DAM United created interfaces to patient management so that data and images can be more easily merged by users and processes can run more efficiently. The DAMmetadata module is also in use: it simplifies the maintenance of metadata.
The actual migration of the assets was also carried out by the DAM experts, who used their specially developed tool DAMmigrate for this purpose. With the help of the specially configured converter, the data was transferred semi-automatically and efficiently. Precise mapping of the information fields ensured a secure, fast and resource-saving migration.
The system change from Canto Cumulus to fylr carried out by DAM United has proven itself in numerous companies. It is a simple, secure and inexpensive solution for those willing to switch who want to benefit from the latest DAM developments and work more effectively with large image databases.
