DAM United & BRANDGUARDIAN present the future of global media production at the Celum Usergroup

Together with our close partner BRANDGUARDIAN we were present at the Celum Usergroup in Cologne on November 19, 2019. Our presentation dealt with the increased challenges in distributed media production. The requirements regarding data security, global collaboration and performance (even with large data volumes) today require an “intelligent” file & network system. In addition to global collaboration with media data, it must also be able to easily integrate additional services and solutions. The usual problem in practice, that a file is exported or synchronized and that the connection to the DAM system is lost, leads again and again to further problems and time frictions. And in media production, time is of the essence (keyword: printing press stopped) – i.e. it is not uncommon for images to be used in InDesign documents while they are still being edited and possibly replaced.

Another problem: Connection of clients and locations. There is no universal access / client that queries intelligent data on external / local servers to ensure maximum performance. Foreign subsidiaries, for example in China, i.e. connections across the globe and, if necessary, bridging country-specific firewalls, pose a further problem.

This is where BRANDGUARDIAN’s unique Media Collaboration Technology (MCT) comes into play. With the collection of microservices developed over years, distributed media production can be revolutionized. As a preferred MCT partner, DAM United offers sales, expansion and customizing in the DAM area.

Our presentation showed how the virtual real-time file system for multi-cloud environments can be used concretely and in interaction with Celum instances. MCT enables – similar to a Google Drive, but on a higher level – the collaboration of geographically distributed teams on and with assets. However, changes are immediately visible to all parties involved (such as several agencies, freelancers, local marketing departments, etc.).

As a neutral instance, MCT can integrate any DAM systems and other file cloud services into the file system. This guarantees 100% identical file statuses in media production worldwide, as well as a significant simplification and acceleration of collaboration, without process breaks. In addition, downstream processes such as rendering or translations can be automated much better.

Conclusion: DAM should be used for the typical DAM tasks and, in conjunction with MCT, should be expanded to include global collaboration and data synchronization. We would be happy to support you in this!
